I must say, I’m a fan Colleen Rose’s blog, Northern Art Teacher. Initially, it was a bit frustrating to me that there wasn’t an “About Me” section to help me figure out the blog’s author, but after looking into a few posts, I was able to identify Colleen.
Aside from that lack of clarity, I really appreciate the honestly of this blog. For one, she invites the influence and opinions of others; Her posts are collaborative in nature. She often shares content from other teachers, invites other teachers to provide feedback, or sometimes even literally creates videos with other teachers in what she calls an “Art Chat”. (Check out the YouTube playlist.) More so than the team-mentality, though, I truly appreciate her willingness to bring up topics that she is in the process of thinking through herself. Instead of bragging about accomplishments or using her digital platform to promote companies, she uses it to spread ideas, to critique the status quo, and to connect others. For that, I give Northern Art Teacher 5/5 stars. Find Colleen on YouTube and Twitter.
